Getting started

  1. Open Atrium on your Apple TV.
  2. If your server is on the same network it will appear in the list. If not, choose Enter address manually and type it (for example http://192.168.1.10:8096).
  3. Pick your user — if the server publishes them — or type the name, and enter your password.

Frequently asked

It can't find my server.

Automatic discovery only sees the local network. Check that the Apple TV and the server are on the same network; otherwise type the address by hand.

It says it can't connect.

Try the same address from a browser on a computer at home. If that can't reach it either, the problem is the server or the network, not the app.

Which libraries show up?

Movies, shows, collections and music — and, since 1.6, the ones that mix films and shows. And if your server has channels, live TV shows up too as of 1.7: the channel list with what is on now and, as of 1.9, the guide grid and your recordings — to watch: scheduling is done on the server. Photos and books are not shown: better left out than shown half-done.

Does it play HDR or Dolby Vision?

Yes, if the file is and your TV supports it. If the server has to convert the file before sending it, the result is whatever that conversion produces — that is up to the server, not the app.

Video keeps stalling.

Try lowering Settings ▸ Playback Quality: the server will send a lighter stream that needs less network.

I want to watch in another language.

In Settings ▸ Audio Language and Subtitles. Both are stored in your server account, so they apply to its other clients too. While watching, the info panel also lets you switch track.

The next episode starts on its own and I don't want that.

Turn off Settings ▸ Automatic Next Episode. With that off, the app offers the next episode when one ends and waits for you to say so.

Nothing appears in the Apple TV's top row.

The Top Shelf only fills in when Atrium sits in the top row of the system home screen, and you are signed in. Move the app up there and give it a moment.

There's more than one of us.

Each person can sign in with their own server account and switch from Settings ▸ Switch User, without typing the password again.

Can I use a server that isn't Jellyfin?

Yes: since 1.2, Atrium also speaks to Emby. When you connect it recognises which kind of server it is and adapts on its own — there is nothing to choose. And since 1.3, HDR lights up with both.
